NNAVY Releases Debut Album 'I'll Wait For You'

Swiss singer, songwriter and performer NNAVY today releases her debut album, I’ll Wait For You, out now via NNAVY Records / Absolute Label Services. Following the singles “Slowly Burning,” “Late Nights” and “Distance,” the record is the first full-length statement from one of the most compelling new voices in contemporary soul and R&B.

Listen to 'I'll Wait For You'

Grief, resilience, desire, self-worth: I’ll Wait For You is a record about the people we hold onto and the ones we learn to hold at a distance. Across twelve songs, NNAVY moves between R&B, soul and jazz, turning private reckonings — with love, with her body, with loss — into music built for a room full of people. It is intimate without ever being small.

The album takes its name from its title track, written for her cousin, one of the most important people in her life. As NNAVY explains: “She’s been through very dark times, and we’ve pushed each other away, sometimes when I didn’t want to be accountable for my life, or when I didn’t want to feel like a burden. But we’ve basically gone through everything together almost since I was born. This song is for her.”

That devotion runs through the whole record. “Birthday” documents the shifting shape of grief seven years after the death of her brother. “Grief is a strange, shifting thing,” she says. “It was the first time I didn’t sob my heart out on his birthday, and that felt really weird.” “Be Okay” is a hand held out through dark times, a reminder that pain, like joy, is temporary, while “I’ve Tried” and “Why” sit with the exhaustion of loving people who can’t or won’t show up in return — a partner who isn’t really there, friendships that take without giving back

Elsewhere, NNAVY turns that same clarity inward. “Distance” and “Get Away” turn self-preservation into anthem — reminders not to lose herself in other people, even as she stays generous, kind and open. “In My Room” sits inside a struggle for self-kindness that too many women will recognise: “I offer boundless empathy to everyone else in the world, yet I cannot extend even a fraction of that kindness to myself.” “My Everything” offers the record’s tenderest moment, a love letter to her partner.

The writing is just as unflinching about race and the body. “Late Nights” confronts the way Black women are too often rendered invisible or undesirable in the Western romantic landscape, while “Colours” answers with quiet defiance — in NNAVY’s words, “a peaceful revolution. No matter what the people in power want us to endure, we will never lose our colours.” And opener “Slowly Burning,” written from a feeling that the world is burning around us, sets the tone for all of it: “If the sun didn’t rise again tomorrow, then let’s dance, let’s laugh, let’s have fun one last time.”

The album arrives on the back of strong early support. “Slowly Burning” landed on Spotify’s Queen and R&B Weekly, Apple Music’s New Music Daily and Alpha Women, and curated playlists across Pandora and Vevo, with Vevo selecting NNAVY as a Vevo DSCVR artist. At radio, “Late Nights” was supported by BBC Radio 1Xtra’s R&B Show with Chuckie, alongside Germany’s Deutschlandfunk and Switzerland’s SRF 3, SRF Virus and RTS Couleur 3, while “Slowly Burning” picked up national rotation on SRF 3 and RTS Couleur 3.

Since launching her artist project, NNAVY has released four critically acclaimed EPs and earned recognition both at home and internationally, including the TATAKI Award (2023) and the Swiss Music Award for Best Act Romandie (2025). Her growing profile has led to a coveted COLORSxStudios performance (2023) and appearances at the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival for three consecutive years, including an opening slot for Lionel Richie in 2023. Along the way she has shared stages with Arlo Parks, Ben l’Oncle Soul, Alfa Mist and November Ultra.

A fiercely independent artist, NNAVY completed a 60-date tour in 2024 without the support of a record label, relying instead on the strength of her artistic vision, a dedicated team and an unwavering work ethic. Focused on building a lasting career rather than chasing fleeting success, she approaches her artistry with patience, ambition and a long-term mindset — driven by a desire to create work that matters, and to be a role model who can inspire and empower women who see themselves reflected in her story.

With I’ll Wait For You, NNAVY moves from bedroom songwriter to fully-formed voice — one shaped as much by grief and self-discovery as by joy and defiance. She celebrates the release with live dates across Switzerland this winter, including a hometown show at Les Docks in Lausanne on November 5th.
