Depeche Mode stapte na 30 jaar op bij platenlabel Mute en tekende hun nieuwe plaat (release maart 2013) bij Columbia Records. Bij de persconferentie, eind oktober, gaf het Britse trio al een beetje informatie over het nieuwe album. Dave Gahan: “I am very happy with how the album turned out. The music has a similar vibe to Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion and I think the songs on the album are among some of the very best we’ve done. The album has a very organic and direct feel to it. It’s not a blues record, but it definitely has a soulful vibe. During the recording process we really tried to get the elements of performing and the live show into the album more.”
Depeche Mode begint op 7 mei 2013 in Tel Aviv aan een tournee die de band door 25 landen zal leiden, met een passage op Rock Werchter (07/07/2013) ,wat de uitgelezen kans is om Gahan en co aan het werk te zien.
